Halloween at the Texas Renaissance Festival‏

Well for Halloween this year Richard and I decided to dress up the baby as the prince he is and take him to the Texas Renaissance Festival. It was a good day and Victor got a good nap on the way there. The sights were interesting as always and the food was good. We ran into a knight whose wife wanted Victor's picture taken with her husband so I got some too. Victor wasn't thrilled with the guy but very interested in his armor. Mostly Victor wanted to roam around and be master of his domain. He received many compliments and at least to us was the cutest young royalty there.

Well you said you needed a new video so here ya go. Victor was acting silly after he got ahold of Richard's mug and thought it was funny when he made noise into the cup.

Stages ...

We are all familiar with the stages of Grief.... Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and then finally Acceptance. These stages apply to many things in life, for me, they are the most applicable when it comes to changing a poop filled diaper.
The first stage is denial. The child didn’t just poop, nah, we just changed him, it was gas, again. Phew, we really need to start watching what we feed the kid, maybe the wife farted and is trying to pass it off on the child acting like she didn’t do anything.
The second stage is Anger: Oh my God, what does this kid eat all day? Why does this happen only when I am around? I think the kid hates me. Whose turn is it, wait, it’s mine, that means that he is going to scream and roll around making a bigger mess. God, how much longer before we can potty train again?
The third state is Bargaining: “Sweetheart, your child pooped his pants again and the smell is getting really bad. I think this is a solid one so the clean up should not be too bad. Lets make a deal, you do this and I will give you a back rub later tonight, deal?”
The fourth state is Depression: This is a silent stage, usually mixed in with a little bit of anger as the walk to the changing area occurs. For me, this stage involves remembering when life was simpler and we didn’t have the child and anything else that might be remotely bothering me at that moment. All my issues culminate with this poop filled diaper. Depending on how easily the changing goes, depression and anger might end during the diaper change (usually after the child is wiped down and you are sure you will not be urinated on) or after when the child has finally stopped screaming.
The fifth and final state is acceptance, for me, this occurs at the earliest when I am washing my hands after the diaper change. However, if the diaper change has been a particularly bad one, then the anger/depression stage will last until the next poop hits the diaper and my wife begins the cycle.

Last day in Daycare

Well as most know Victor starting tomorrow will be staying with a nanny at our neighbors house instead of going to daycare every day. She is an experienced nanny and she will be keeping our neighbor's son Cole as well. This all is happening as kids of school age are going ot their first day of school and I have seen many " First Day" pictures, so I have decided to past a last day picture. Victor's last day of going to daycare. This morning he was in a bit of a mood, only wanting to be held so it was hard to get a good picture but here ya go..

Victor's Party

Today for Victor's First Birthday we went to ChuckECheese with some friends and family. Victor had a great time walking around, looking at all the lights and games and eating his first cake. There is nothing funnier than a kid and his first birthday cake. He got some cool toys and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Big Day

Today Richard and I both took off work because it was going to be a big day. First we went and got Victor's 1 Year portraits done. He was a good sport but was really getting tired and cranky toward the end. Then Richard and I dropped Victor off at daycare and had a rare middle of the week middle of the day date. We went and saw Harry Potter at the Alamo Drafthouse. Was a good movie though not as good as the books, but movies never are. Afterward we went and picked up the pictures and picked up Victor and took him for his one year check up (where he had to get shots.) Then home and with it the fun of sorting through all the pictures and figuring out who gets what.. We are all so tired and Victor is already in bed and I will be going to mine soon.
