Today was the first day Victor started to crawl and minus the first 2 minutes I was able to get it on video. Of course some of the first things he went after were Otis' . Its a long video but I was and still am so proud.

Victor's First Haircut
Today Victor got his first haircut! We were going to try and wait until his first birthday but it was getting so long it was growing into his ears. We took him to a Cool Cuts for Kids place and the woman who cut his hair did an awesome job. He got to sit in a little car and was a very well behaved boy. Where did my baby go? He looks like a toddler now.

Family update
Well this has been an interesting week for the Sabbara household. On Monday I tore my medial meniscus in my left knee while running at work. I was in so much pain I had to leave work and go home. Monday night a bunch of storms rolled through Houston and Otis who is deathly afraid of thunder almost didn't make it though the night.. not from fear but from the fact that all he would do is stand on top of my painful leg while I was trying to sleep and tremble causing me to want to kill him myself.
That morning Richard takes Victor to day care and I stay at home to wait for my doctor's appointment that I had made. Meanwhile I get a call from Victor's school saying that due to flooding from the night before Fort Bend ISD had shut down schools for the day and I had to go pick Victor back up. I call Richard who had not yet made it into work because of the flooding; so he turns around to meet me at my appointment and take Victor home. Long story short, I go to the doc, get and MRI of my knee and end up having surgery on it on Wednesday. Thursday Victor has his nine month check up appointment and since I am feeling good I tag along. Bad idea, that and physical therapy I had today has made me hurt much of this morning.. anyway I am on the mend and hope to be hopping about soon since we go to Florida on vacation a week from tomorrow.
Victor's new stats are
Weight 25lb (95%)
Height 28 5/8 (75%)
Head Circumference 18 1/4 (75%)
Sorry so to the point with no pictures but next week I hope to have some cute ones from vaction.

The joy of dog ownership
Well not too many times is Otis in the blog even though he is part of the family but what he did today was of note. While left at home he decided to eat the remote to the tv in the extra bedroom where he stays when we are not at home. The people at his day care found the mess when they came to pick him up. They called Richard who left work to come home to make sure that Otis had not eaten any of the batteries. On the way one of his tires has a blow out. So I get a call and I leave work to check the remote. Although the batteries were still there big pieces of the plastic were gone so i go and get Otis and take him to the vet. The vet said for us just to watch him and make sure he isn't passing bloody poo and to give him some bread... so here I am home from work waiting for the dog to go to the bathroom... sigh.

Victor visits Daddy's work
Today Victor and I went up to Richard's work to visit and take him out to lunch. Victor was very much the prince of the day with all the ladies and a few men oohhing and ahhing over him. He put on his best performance and even sat in Richard's chair though he told me later he wanted to keep his day job of playing at school.

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter everyone! Today it was supposed to be very rainy and wet so yesterday Richard and I dressed Victor up in his Easter outfit and took him in the front yard to take pictures with his basket. He loved taking the eggs out and beating them together and I think starting to understand to look at mommy and smile when I have the camera.
Today it only rained a little bit but we mostly stayed inside anyway just because Victor was wanting to sleep alot. He took two very long naps and wasn't interested in much other than crackers at dinner time. The three of us (poor Otis got left behind) went to Luisa's for dinner and as always she put on a great spread of lamb and stuffed grapeleaves. We left not too long after dessert because the littlest of us is very much on a bedtime schedule and was starting to get a bit cranky. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Feed Me!
This weekend Victor has been quite funny with his food. He went though a phase of just hanging out with his weight and hadn't grown much but I think we are starting another growth spurt. He is wanting thicker food and more of it. We have started feeding him some off our plates of things that can be gummed down and he is now eating the #3 jar stuff as well as Cheerios. Today we tried adult oatmeal for the first time and he loved it and had no problem with the consistency. For lunch we are going to try the graduate raviolis. He is starting to finally get a tooth. It is the bottom middle right one. Maybe by the end of this week there will be enough for us to get a picture of it. Victor's new thing he has started this past week is wanting to stand. He wants us to hold out our fingers and he will grab on and pull himself up. Then he will sit, then stand, then sit, then pull up again.

I also included a picture of Victor being greedy and wanting his milk and his pacifier at the same time.

Victor Gets Ear Tubes
Today very early we all got up to go to a surgery center for Victor to get tubes put in his ears. He has had an ear infection that I don't think has gone away at all since the beginning of February. He has been on four antibiotics and would still wake up in the middle of the night as well as have fits in the middle of the day pulling his hair and just crying. He was a very good boy today and didn't fuss too much at all even though his last cup of milk was at 6pm last night and he couldn't have anything until after the surgery at 7am. Afterward when the doctor talked to us she said he had a lot of gunk built up behind his ear drum and it would of been a long time before it could of cleared up with more antibiotics. That made us feel good about our decision to put him through the surgery. As he was waking up from anesthesia he was very confused and cranky but has done well since being home just taking a lot of naps. I feel this is a new start for all of us and look forward to having a pain free baby.

Our Rodeo Adventure
Yesterday we took Victor to the Houston Livestock show and rodeo. It was an adventure from the beginning. It was the first time Victor has ridden in a vehicle not in a car seat and he wasn't sure what to think of the park and ride bus.

When we got there he went to the petting zoo and was not impressed at all with the animals.

We all walked around, saw the booths and had lunch. There was a photo opportunity where a kid could stand in a barrel and make it look like he was part of the rodeo action. Of course Victor is too little so Richard was a good sport and held him up so mom could have a good shot.

It was all a ton of fun and the whole family took a nap when we got home. I think next year will be more fun with him when he can walk and be interested in the carnival rides. Humm.. guess next year will be alot more expensive!

Rub a dub dub, Victor in the tub
Today we got in Victor's new big boy bath tub seat. It is great for him because he loves to sit up and play in the tub and the old one made him recline. Now he can splash and reach his bath toys much easier. It awesome for me because part of the seat stability is an arm rest for whatever parent is bathing him.
